Tŷ Gwilym Holiday Cottages, 8 Goat Street, St Davids, Pembrokeshire, SA62 6RF
Last reviewed: 20th August 2026
We want everyone who stays with us to know exactly what to expect before they book. Tŷ Gwilym Holiday Cottages are traditional stone Pembrokeshire buildings in the centre of St Davids, and like most historic properties they have features that suit some guests and not others.
If anything here is unclear, or you would like to talk through what you need before booking, please call David on 07836 252638 or email info@tygwilymholidaycottages.co.uk. We are happy to measure anything we have not covered, send extra photographs, or answer any question at all.
A summary of the four cottages; full details for each follow. None of our cottages is step-free. Bwthyn Aur is the only one without a staircase, but it has one step at the front door and two steps between rooms inside.

A former farmhouse arranged over two floors.
There are no steps up to the front door — just a raised threshold to step over.
All three bedrooms are on the first floor; there is no bedroom on the ground floor. The staircase turns to the left partway up, and there is a handrail on the left at the top only.
There are three. On the first floor, a family bathroom with both a bath and a shower, and an en-suite shower room off the third bedroom. On the ground floor, off the utility room ( a step down from hall), there is a further shower and toilet
Electric double oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, and a large table seating six.
One unallocated parking space directly outside the cottages, on gravel, reached through an archway measuring 2.26m wide and 2.59m high (7’5" × 8’6"). Please check your vehicle’s width & height if you are unsure.
Gas central heating throughout. There is a wood burning stove in the sitting room with logs provided, but it is entirely optional — the cottage is warm without lighting it.
We are very close to the Cathedral Bell Tower and its bells can be heard from the cottage, including the bedrooms. Many guests love it; if you sleep lightly, it is worth knowing before you book.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout. Non-smoking. The garden is shared with the other cottages. Although we do not accept pets, assistance dogs are welcome.

A traditional cottage arranged over two floors.
There is one step up to the front door, and a raised threshold to step over.
Both bedrooms are on the first floor; there is no bedroom on the ground floor. The staircase is relatively steep and turns to the left, with a handrail on the left at the top section only. Space either side of the beds is narrow — please ask us if you need room to move around the bed.
There is one bathroom, and the shower is over the bath — so using it means stepping into and out of the bath. There is no separate walk-in shower and no toilet on the ground floor. If a level-entry shower matters to you, Bwthyn Gwe or Bwthyn Aur will suit you better.
The upper bedroom opens onto a raised balcony with views over the Cathedral Bell Tower, Carn Llidi and Whitesand Bay. There is a raised threshold to step over onto the balcony, and steep steps down from the balcony to the garden.

A traditional stone Pembrokeshire cottage with a 28ft open-plan living room and kitchen on the ground floor.
There is a raised threshold to step over at the front door.
The bedroom and bathroom are both on the first floor; there is no bedroom or toilet on the ground floor. The staircase turns to the right, with a handrail on the right-hand side. The bedroom is large, with a king-size bed, plenty of space to move around the bed on both sides, and a hand basin in the room.
The bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower. The shower has a door and a lip to step over — it is not level-entry.
The kitchen has a gas-fired Rayburn range cooker, and this is the only cooker — there is no conventional hob or oven. A Rayburn works differently from an ordinary cooker and the hotplate covers are heavy to lift. There is a microwave as well, and we are very happy to talk you through the Rayburn before you arrive.

There is no staircase, but the cottage is not entirely level: there is one step down from the sitting room into the kitchen, and a second step down from the kitchen into the bedroom.

The en-suite wet room has a level shower floor with no lip or tray to step over. There are currently no grab rails.

Parking is at Quickwell Hill car park, using a pass we provide — about a five-minute walk from the cottage. It is sometimes possible to pull up on the walkway outside to unload before parking, depending on space. If carrying luggage that distance would be difficult, please ring David before you travel and we will do our best to arrange it.

If you are unsure whether a cottage will suit you, please ring David on 07836 252638 before booking. We would far rather spend ten minutes on the phone than have you arrive to find the cottage does not work for you.
Parking for Bwthyn Aur is a short walk away. If carrying luggage that far would be difficult, ring us before you travel and we will do our best to arrange for you to unload at the door.
The bed can be moved across to free up space on one side. Just let us know before you arrive.
If you require any additional equipment, please ask.
Not sure which cottage suits you? Please ring David on 07836 252638 or email info@tygwilymholidaycottages.co.uk. We would far rather answer your questions first than have you arrive to find the cottage does not work for you.
This guide describes our cottages as they are. It is not a rating, and we have tried not to overstate what we offer. If you find anything here that is inaccurate, please tell us so we can correct it.
