'This is possibly the finest Holiday Cottage in the whole of Wales! It is furnished to a very high standard and is exceptionally clean and in a beautiful location, just minutes away from the magnificent St David's Cathedral, and a twenty minute walk to Porth Clais on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Celebrating St Davids Day!

St David, Dewi Sant, is the patron Saint of Wales and was born in c.500 AD. The legend says that his mother, St Non, gave birth to him on a clifftop near St Davids... marked by the ruins of St Non's Chapel, just a short walk from our cottages.

This is why St Davids has special celebrations on March 1st each year, with a Dragon Parade, involving local school children in costumes and, this year, a special concert in the Cathedral, led by the Band of the Prince of Wales on Saturday March 3rd.

Amazing November morning near Caerfai Bay, St Davids

The winter months in St Davids are amazing. Last week, one day it was totally calm,  the sea was flat and the sun was low, throwing sparkling light onto the waves at midday.  

The next day storm Debi arrived with 50-60 m.p.h. winds... waves crashing over the rocks throwing vast plumes of spray everywhere and up onto the coastal path.

This variety is a dream for walkers and photographers... and a wonderful experience to take home.

Whitesands near St Davids and Newgale beaches awarded Blue Flags for 2023

Whitesands Bay and Newgale Beach have been awarded the coveted Blue Flag for 2023 and they are just a few minutes from our Cottages.

Beaches are very therapeutic... the sounds of the waves, watching surfers, experieincing the bird life and looking across to Ramsey Island.

Experience wonderful music at St Davids Cathedral

Over the summer, there are a number of wonderful Concerts at St Davids Cathedral, which is just a stone's throw from Ty Gwilym Holiday Cottages. It's literally three minutes walk from the front door! There are concerts over May Half Term and every week from July 6th to September 21st 2023 to suit all tastes.

Walks from our cottages, perhaps the best in Pembrokeshire?

Yesterday, we walked from our cottages in the middle of St Davids to Lower Treginnis (the Farm for City Children) and then round to St Justinians. We had a brief lull from the recent storms and the view, as always was amazing.

The Shed, six miles from St Davids, voted one of the Top 7 Fish and Chip shops in UK

The Shed Bistro in Porthgain has been voted by The Times as one of the Top 7 Fish and Chip Shops in the UK.

We have been visiting The Shed for over 20 years and we always love the experience... amazing food, great service and the local harbour with all its history.

This is a 'must visit' when you're in the area and it's only 15 minutes from our cottages in St Davids.

Visit the unique and amazing 'Really Wild Food Emporium', St Davids

The 'Really Wild Food Emporium'is a great addition to St Davids.  It aims to 'connect ancient foraging activities in the natural and wild environment of Pembrokeshire to a passion for food, drink and handmade skincare products, that both heal the body and protect the planet.'

The Emporium is a lovely Art Deco building in the middle of St Davids over two floors with a fantastic restaurant and shop. The restaurant is dedicated to using wild foraged ingredients and, in the evenings, they offer a delicious six course taster menu (currently Thursday to Saturday), which is simply outstanding. 10th Anniversary of the Wales Coastal Path

This week celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the 870 miles Wales Coastal Path, which incorporates the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path... just a few minutes from our cottages in St Davids.

The path was launched in 2012 and is heralded as the first dedicated coast path in the world to cover the entire length of a country's coastline. It starts in Chester and finishes at Anglesey.
